Even though it is invisible to our naked eyes, global warming is wreaking havoc on this planet’s atmosphere. Alarmingly, the rate of global warming is inflating on a constant basis. There have been heated argument and debate raging on regarding the cause of global warming with some claiming that this process is anthropogenic while others are against this notion. On the other hand, some have even gone an extra mile insisting that global warming is a con perpetrated by researchers and scientists with vested interests. So the dilemma pops into your mind; is global warming a by-product of humankind’s ignorance or an evolutionary process of nature or can it can be nothing more than a trivial figment distilled from the depths of the brains of greedy researchers, politicians and scientists?
A study conducted by the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature (BEST) dispels all the false notions and brings the fact into light. The study unearthed that the temperature of this planet has amplified by 2.5 degrees Fahrenheit over the previous 250 years in accordance to 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit over the last 50 years. This surge of temperature over a short span of time is rather worrying. Dr. Richard Muller who is the head of the BEST team and a self-proclaimed converted skeptic blames this inflating rate of global warming is essentially caused by the emission of greenhouse gases by mankind. If that does not convince you about the appalling reality of global warming then keep in mind that BEST is funded by Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation; a renowned organization whose root is deeply embedded in the oil industry and The Manufactured Doubt Industry.
When we turn our backs on global warming, we unwittingly lay down an appalling message of hypocrisy. Whether global warming is anthropogenic or not, it is our responsibility to ameliorate this planet and mold it into a better shape for our future generations.
