Research Says Asian-Americans Not Well-Adjusted

A study conducted by the University at Buffalo School of Social Work belies the long-standing belief that Asian-Americans are the most well-adjusted minority group in the US, at least insofar as healthcare is concerned. The study was based on analysis of previous research on health care disparities among different ethnic and racial groups.

The researchers found that some sub-groups within the large Asian community are less assimilated than others and hence, aren’t able to enjoy healthcare benefits due to language and cultural barriers, poor awareness on health issues, lack of health insurance, and immigration status. The study was conducted to look into the vast difference of healthcare enjoyed by Asian professionals and their less-fortunate ethnic brothers who can’t get help when they need it.
