While the recent hype surrounding 3D entertainment spurred by the film Avatar has driven many high tech companies to introduce home 3D television and gaming technology to the market, a recent study conducted by Nielsen shows that most consumers detest the idea of wearing 3D glasses in their home.
Nearly 90% of those surveyed said that the 3D glasses required for home TV viewing and video game playing are either inconvenient or uncomfortable. With nearly half of participants citing discomfort and the remainder expressing distaste of multitasking limitations caused by the wearing of the 3D glasses, it is quite likely the in-home 3D movement is on its way out, unless new viewing technology is implemented, and soon.
